OAXACA – Traveling for $20 a Day in Mexico

Welcome to Oaxaca City, the capital of the Mexican state of Oaxaca. With more than 15 churches and cathedrals, vibrant colonial architecture spans the entire city. Oaxaca is known for its food, and it certainly didn’t disappoint (although the breakfast we had was a little sketchy).

The food Oaxaca is known for are “quesillo” (Oaxacan cheese), mole, tlayudas, and chapulines (crickets)! We eat all of these delicious specialties in the video, so you know what to try during your visit here.

Our favorite spots in the city were the Zocalo, and the two primary marketplaces, Mercado 20 de Noviembre, and Mercado Benito Juárez. You’ll see we spent a lot of time in this area of the city.

Thanks so much for watching! Please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment, and subscribe, if you haven’t already 🙂

  1. LOL the mushroom trip at the end. Love that! I’ll be living in Oaxaca for 4 months in 2023 so I’m watching as many vlogs as I can. This one is my favorite so far haha
  2. About the recent poll you put out, I’m on the side that you should drop the accommodation part of the budget. It takes up too much of the budget and I’m sure many of us would love to see what you could do with the extra money in terms of experiences.
  3. Those shrooms looked positively gnarly!!! Amazing edit afterward lol. We love these videos man, hope the SEO pops off soon.

  6. Oh My God! How can you two keep coming up with such nice content? Again, love the way in which you include locals in your content. One never knows what can happen when we cross paths with complete strangers. The editing is brilliant!

  10. Nice vlog Kevin, keep up these $20 vlogs. Prior to my Grandmother’s passing 25 years ago she would make mole at least once every 2 weeks, brings back good memories.
