Day in The Life of a Mandarin Language Student in China

My daily life as a Mandarin student in Yangshuo, Guilin, China: I wake up around 7:30am, eat 肠粉 (rice noodle roll) for breakfast, do my homework & self study, eat lunch in the school cafeteria, then go to class from 2pm to 4:35pm. After class, I go explore a massive cave near school, and finish off the evening with a delicious 烧烤 (barbecue) dinner! Just a standard day 🙂

  1. It’s great to be young, study, and see the world at the same time.
  2. your pronunciation is actually on point, a few errors here and there but half of the time you sound like a native.. wild
  3. “I can not recommend Omeida Chinese Academy … enough”. You got me in the first half, not gonna lie.
  4. As a guy who eat Rice noodle roll, I strongly recommend you put the soy sauce into it, soy sauce is the soul of the roll. A sweet recommendation from Guangzhou, South China ; )
  5. Just got back from a month at Omeida and seriously can’t recommend it enough. The location is so beautiful and the school is excellent. Also be sure to try the rice noodle wrap with egg because I tried it once and then got it for breakfast (and sometimes lunch too) almost everyday I was there.
  6. Used to study a few weeks at Omeida and Oral English College (a few streets away from you). Got some nostalgic feelings watching this. Btw, your Chinese has improved a lot since last time I watched your videos. Props!
  7. Kevin, what a fulfilling day to have, mentally and physically. I wish to have something like that one day!
  8. i love how you enjoy eating all the local food. Honestly growing up I’ve been mocked about food i eat/lunches I bring so many times by others around me so it’s quite refreshing to see a foreigner trying and liking chinese food with an open mind.
  9. What a wonderful life, isn’t it? Learning everyday, appreciating a delicious coffee, eating delightful food for cheap (I’m assuming its not really expensive)… bonding and spending time with other people, making friendhships… This is a huge Blessing from God! I am happy for you my friend, and you seem like a good person. Hope you grow each day more and more! Hugs from Brazil.
  10. Great peek into what life is like as a foreign student in China! Brings back memories of when I studied Chinese in Shanghai and Beijing one summer — had some of my favorite memories back then. China is LIT
