Traveling for $20 A Day: Cebu, Philippines – Ep 15

We visit Cebu City, Philippines and have a full day of adventure riding jeepneys, exploring the Basilica Complex of Santo Nino, and visiting Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, Mango Square, Mactan, and many other spots. We also ate a ton of delicious food, including pungko pungko, and we ate at the famous Larsian BBQ near Mango Square.

Things got a little bit wild when we decided to buy a bottle of local rum, take a post-lunch break with some locals, and chat about life in Cebu. With the help of my guide, Paul, I saw so much of Cebu City in one day with only 20 bucks, and made this the best episode of 20 Dollar Traveling yet!

  1. I hated that this video has to end. I was enjoying so much watching it but then it had to end. Uhhh.
  2. I love the Philippines. It is a bargain hunters dream come true. I have done a lot of traveling in my life, and the Philippines is truly my favourite. I went there by myself for a month alone, even though I didn’t know anyone. It was totally safe and the people were the sweetest.
  3. Cool coming to Manila in December and again in February. Pretty excited to start exploring 🙂
  4. Of all my travels in Asia the Philippines is by far well noted for the most friendly people in the world. I am considering moving there next year. Last year when I was there Mango Square was about taking over by working girls but still a very cool atmosphere.
  5. Larsian–good call. If you’re buying beer, you’re better off getting a Red Horse grande or pint. You’ll get a grande for the price of two small beers.
  6. Thanks for featuring my hometown Cebu!!!! I was so jealous watching you eat at LARSIAN BBQ!!!! Hahahaha! Enjoy the rest of your stay in the Philippines!
  7. Good video! I lived in Cebu City for 2 1/2 years after meeting a beautiful Filipina online back in the US before I left. Loved it all… the incredible Filipino people, the culture, the food, the sights — everything. I’m going back!
  8. Cool following your travels! Nice video! Thank you for bringing me along to see the cool, colorful taxis and the fort, the church and see the delicious food from the vendors… I wish I could taste those bananas and that meal looks so good too🍌 You know an excellent tour guide too! What a downpour! Happy trails
  9. I had no idea there was such a strong Spanish influence in Philippino culture. Having just learned about the Portuguese colonists who roamed south east Asia, it shouldn’t be surprising. Thank you for making this video!
  10. Hostel receptionist and 2 closest girls at the feast table towards the end of the video was the 3 most cutest (to me) chicks out of all your videos combined 🙂
