Traveling for $20 A Day: Guiyang, China – Ep 22

We visit Guiyang, the capital of China’s Guizhou Province, and the surrounding areas of Huaxi and the ancient town of Qingyan. A ton of local Guiyang food, street food, transport around the entire city, a shoe-shining, a musical performance, a couple claw game failures, and a room in a hostel – all for 20 USD (138 RMB)!

The Guizhou Province is home to many ethnic minority groups in China, including the Miao people. I did include some footage of the Miao people at the end of the video, but this footage was filmed on a separate day of my trip.

  1. mate. i’ve discovered you during my graduation.. basically a depressive and stresfull time. and your videos have become like a relaxzation therapy for me. Down side to your videos is that there arent many left to watch.
  2. There are just so many things I loved about it: the introduction part with the park footage, the fast forwards, the sunglasses in the pig foot restaurant, the time lapse, the shoe shining, the night market.
  3. Wow, what an amazing vlog. I’ve only been to China for a layover but would LOVE to go back and spend a lot of time there exploring. Even more motivating seeing how you can do it for so cheap! Thanks for sharing.
  4. I’ve been binge watching your videos for a while now, and they’re AMAZING (except for the part where you’re eating mouthwatering food at a low price ha! just kidding). And to be honest it also REALLY makes me want to go to China as an exchange student! Actually I’m currently studying Chinese and International Business in Paris and I’ve been thinking about doing an exchange for a while now, because what better way to study a language than going/living/visiting the country, right? I don’t know if this fits the main objective of your channel, but it would be actually nice if you could do like an interview with foreign exchange students there, about how they prepared their stay, what is their living situation, how do they cope, what are their advice for people like me who are considering going to China, etc. Anyway, keep up the good work, we really like them! ๐Ÿ˜€
  5. Love Guiyang – every-time I visit the people seem especially easy going and nice.
  6. Lots of familiar locations there. I spent more than a year in Huaxi, at Guizhou University. Huaxi Park and Qingyan Village are great spots. Looks like you missed the Wetlands Park though, that’s a nice place to take a stroll.
  7. Guiyang my sweet home! Look like you missed ้…ธๆฑค้ฑผ (sour fish hot pot)
  8. Even if it’s only once a month, I’ll take it. great to see that you’re still making videos. I see that you’re sub count has gone up since I first found your channel. I hope it goes up and up to make it worth your while to make more and more videos.
  9. Amazing video. I went to China one month ago. It takes me back to China and I love that. Thank you for making this awesome videos! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. Guiyang is hometown! Thanks for uploading the video to let people know how beautiful it is! BTW, if you eat SiWaWa(The spring roll) by only one bite, it will be more tasty since you get the spicy soup all wrapped in the roll : )
